Why we love Field Notes

Field Notes Cherry Wood cover notebooks are quite possibly the most beautiful notebooks we’ve ever used. The fine folks that make these notebooks are real artisans - the covers are made with super thinly sliced American cherry wood, making every notebook individual. The covers being as cherry trees grown in either Wisconsin or Illinois. The trees are handpicked, then milled from huge logs into fine sheets of wood that are flexible enough to be soft covers for your notebook. The attention to detail doesn’t stop there though… the 48 pages themselves are made from beautiful Finch opaque smooth 50#T paper, and saddle stitch bound into the cover.

At Escape Plan being good NZ stockists we’ve tested these out, and given how much the team love them, it’s lucky we’ve still got some in stock and available to buy online. They’re amazing, perfect size notebooks for a little bit of everyday luxury and the team almost nabbed all of them. The 5mm square graph lining is both great for technical sketches, but also unobtrusive enough for free hand drawing or simple note taking. The paper’s nice and thick too, without that annoying ink bleed through to the other side. 48 pages is a pretty good compromise too between having enough space for your thoughts without feeling like you’ve got the Encyclopaedia Britannica (remember those?) in your pocket. Our only small wish is being able to get these in different sizes – we’d love a large and small size to go with the 89mm x 140mm current size.
